Our Journey
The History of ECS
Elyon Christian School (ECS) began with a desire to prepare young people as future leaders in Christ through holistic education rooted in a Christian foundation. After a careful process of research, development, and training, ECS opened in 2002 with 43 students. Since then, ECS has grown and opened campuses in West and East Surabaya.
ECS is committed to providing an internationally oriented curriculum. In 2010, ECS officially became a Cambridge International Centre and has continued to strengthen teacher quality through professional training.
In 2014, Elyon Christian School partnered with Global Assessment Certificate to provide a curriculum pathway for High School students and broaden opportunities for overseas study.
Since the first alumni cohort graduated in 2016, ECS students have continued their journeys at universities around the world. ECS continues to cultivate a Christ-centred environment that forms future leaders with a global perspective and Biblical character.

Educational Approach
Holistic Education
ECS offers an educational environment focused on individual development in five areas: Christ-centredness, character, competence, creativity, and physical well-being. By integrating the 5C principles across ECS learning activities, students are nurtured to become holistic learners and future leaders for the 21st century.
Christ-centredness
Christ is at the centre of everything that we do. As students go through an educative journey shaped by Christ-centredness, spiritual development is built upon a strong Christian foundation.
Character
We believe that success is achieved with great character. Our students hone Biblical character traits to prepare them to become individuals who are well-equipped to face the changing world and its challenges.
Competence
ECS aims to develop highly effective individuals who bring value to those around them through the Cambridge Curriculum and Assessment. With the support of qualified teachers delivering a cutting-edge curriculum, students acquire knowledge and develop creative thinking, as well as the intrapersonal and interpersonal skills needed for the future.
Creativity
Our learning activities stimulate each student to explore their creativity in coming up with innovative solutions to different problems. Learning in an environment where creativity is valued allows students to develop confidence and eagerness to discover new breakthroughs.
Corpus Fitness
We realize that physical well-being plays an important role in enabling people to perform to the best of their abilities. At ECS, adopting and maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle is encouraged for long-term benefits that will improve quality of life.
Personal Guidance
Mentoring Approach
We understand that every student is different—endowed by God with a unique identity. Our role as educators is to help each student unlock their potential by actively participating at every step of their learning journey.
From Preschool through High School, mentors observe and guide each student as they learn more about themselves. Based on the 5C principles, mentors help students identify their strengths and interests so they can confidently select subject pathways aligned with the knowledge and skills required in their chosen field.
By exploring their field of interest earlier, students prepare the competencies needed in higher education and the workplace.
We believe every child is created with purpose and called to grow in wisdom, character, and faith.
